Sanofi-Aventis receives US FDA approval for Xyzal oral solution

DATE: 20 Feb 2008

Sanofi-Aventis said Tuesday that an oral solution of its drug Xyzal has been approved by the U.S Food and Drug Administration.

Xyzal is a prescription antihistamine indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with indoor and outdoor allergies, as well as the treatment of chronicidiopathic urticaria.

The allergy drug was developed with Belgium’s UCB who entered into an agreement with Sanofi-Aventis to launch and co-market XYZAL in the U.S. in September 2006.

Last year, the companies received approval for the Xyzal tablet. The French drug group said both forms of the drug are now approved for use by adults and children over six years old.
