Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. said Friday it is ending its collaboration with privately held Pierre Fabre Medicament and returning licensing rights to the chemotherapy treatment candidate vinflunine.

The drug - developed France-based Pierre Fabre – was studied as a possible treatment for bladder cancer and other tumors and licensed to Bristol-Myers in 2004.

The companies said that after reviewing the clinical development program and the decision not to file the drug in the US, both companies had decided that Bristol-Meyer’s license rights would be returned to Pierre Fabre Medicament.

Pierre Fabre will continue the regulatory process for the drug candidate in Europe.
